Journal #16

I found “What the Crow Knows” by Ross Anderson to be a very interesting and informative story. Personally, I have never really thought about consciousness and who or what experiences it or even what gives us consciousness. Although I did always consider animals to be just like us in the sense that they too feel desire, fear, pain, sorrow, and joy, but I just never really thought about it too much. I think it’s so interesting that they were able to pick up on the signs that could potentially signify that they do in fact feel these emotions like how the crows use traffic to open their walnuts or the coming up with a special call for when it wants food. Reading this has actually taught me a lot about this and about Jainism and I’m interested in learning more.
